The Maloy celebration held Sunday had new park facilities to make use of. A new shelter house and restrooms and a bridge
across a ditch to connect the two as well as a new park sign are all recent improvements to the community park.
Racinda JACKSON of Kellerton was named district 18 beef queen following interviews and speaches given at a Friday, July
15, meeting at the Afton bank building. JACKSON is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard JACKSON of rural Kellerton and is
the reigning Ringgold County beef queen.
The 42 members of the 1988-89 State 4-H Council, including three Ringgold county youth, received training recently in the
Iowa 4-H Camping Center in Madrid. Among those participating were Billi HUNT and Bobbie HUNT of Diagonal and Emily
McALEXANDER of Beaconsfield.
Thee gold medals, the result of firsts in state and national Tae Kwon Do tournaments, hand around the neck of Mount
Ayr's new national champion, Billy HIGHTSHOE. HIGHTSHOE won a national first place at the USTU Junior Olympic Championship
in Tampa, FL.
