Five new faculty members will be welcomed to the Mount Ayr Community schools this coming school year. These new teachers will include Ron LANDPHAIR, Mark LARSEN, Sue LARSON (sic), Kathy RINEHART and Loren LINTNER.

Ron LANDPHAIR is new to Mount Ayr Community schools but not to the teaching profession, he previously taught in Central Decatur. He will be teaching vocational carpentry as well as helping to coach the wrestling team on the side. LANDPHAIR has a wife, Martha, and two children, Nicole and Ronnie, who are, respectively, eight and six.

Mark LARSEN will be returning to Mount Ayr Community schools this year as a math teacher and will coach girls' basketball, volleyball, softball and will assist in track. On top of all that, he will serve as assistant athletic director. LARSEN has a wife, Sue, who will be teaching at the elementary school, and two children, Jeremy, age nine, and Drew, age five.

Kathy RINEHART will be filling the possision (sic) of Title 1-Remedial reading. She was born and raised in Mount Ayr and therefore is familiar with the area. RINEHART spent a few years teaching in the East Union schools. She and her family live on a farm just outside of Mount Ayr.

Loren LINTNER is joining the staff as a business education teacher and will assist in the coaching of the junior high football, basketball and track teams. LINTENER is a graduate of Peru State College, Perus, NE where he earned his bachelors degree in science.

In addition to welcoming five new teachers, Mount Ayr Community high school will also extend a greeting to Epaminondas VONTETSIANOS (Nondas, for short), and exchange student who will be visiting from Greece. He is a senior this year.

Mondas will be staying with Reverends Phil and Doris KINTON of Mount Ayr. He is arriving from Thessaloniki, Greece at the Des Moines airport on August 31 and will remain in the U.S. for a year as part of the Youth for Understanding Program.

Thessaloniki, located on the eastern sea coast, is one of Greece's larger cities, sporting a population of around 500,000. Until now, he has gone to school there where he had five years of English.

Mondas will be coming to the United States on August 28 to spend three days in Detroit, MI before coming to say with the KINTONS. In Detroit, he will attend a three-day orientation which will introduce him to the American culture. After that, he will proceed to Des Moines.
