Emmet R. WARIN was re-elected president of the board of education of the Independent School District of Mount Ayr at the reorganization meeting held Monday
night. Other members of the board are Helen FENNEMA, John McFARLAND, Royce DAVIS and Milton HENDERSON.
Mr. and Mrs. O. C. HULL of Kellerton Tuesday quietly observed their 68th anniversary of their marriage.
Ronald TULL graduated Friday from the Reisch American School of Auctioneering at Mason City. TULL is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin TULL.
Fire of unknown origin totally destroyed the two-story I.O.O.F. building in Tingley early Sunday morning. The fire was discovered about 12:45 a.m. but
had gained such headway that it was impossible to save the building. The building was erected soon after the town of Tingley was established by Charles
SWAIN, hardware merchant. I. F. HALL also operated a hardware store in the building until his retirement and later it was occupied by a drug store. The
second story was devoted to lodge and club meetings. A tractor, owned by the town, and two cars stored in the building were removed undamaged.
Insurance on the building, owned for the past 30 years by the I.O.O.F. Lodge, had expired February 15 of this year.
Formal announcement of the candidacy of Lester SICKELS of Liberty township for the office of state representative from Ringgold county, subject to the
will of Republican voters at the primary election, appears elsewhere in this issue of the Record-News. Mr. SICKELS is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
E. G. SICKELS of Kellerton. He has resided in Ringgold county since 1919 and has been engaged in farming except for two years when he was employed
as a mechanic.
Clifford FORCE of Rice township announces his candidacy for the Democrat nominate for state representative from Ringgold county.
F. L. and R. K. McCREARY of Liberty township exhibited the champion female at the Io Ne Mo Polled Hereford show and sale held Friday at Clarinda. The
champion, shown in the senior yearling class, was also the top selling female of the sale. Two heifers, exhibited by Lloyd ANGUS of Poe townsip
placed first in their class.
Loren E. GROUT, ninth grade general science instructor in the Mason City schools and a former resident of Ringgold county, is the winner of the second
annual Iowa science teacher award. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Z. I. GROUT of Tingley, Mr. GROUT taught three years in Tingley schools and for three
years at Perry before going to Mason City. Mr. GROUT is a brother of Ray I. GROUT of Tingley.
Elmer REESE of Diagonal was re-elected president of the Io Ne Mo Polled Hereford Association at the annual meeting held in Clarinda during the annual show and sale Friday.
Leslie FOX of Tingley, who has been the active secretary for three years, was given a vote of confidence and was re-elected.
Ringgold county 4-H members won four of the top 10 places in the judging contest held March 8 in conjunction with the annual Creston 4-H Swine Show. R. C. RUSH
of Kellerton ranked a close second in the contest in which the weight, backfat and grade on 10 head of swine were estimated. The winner was Larry McKINNEY of
Adair county. Bob JONES and Kenneth HERREN, both of Kellerton, placed third and fifth, respectively, in the contest and Hollis RINEHART of Mount Ayr ranked
among the high 10.

A son, Chris, born March 17, to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest CLEMENSON, Lamoni
