A new Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service county committee member and two alternates were elected in
a December 14 meeting. Elected to a three-year term was Linford MASON of Ellston. MASON owns and operates a 236-acre
stock and grain farm in Union township. Other members of the county ASC committee are Gerald BAKER of Clearfield and Marion
CREVELING of Ellston. Also elected at the meeting was Gordon PARKER of Mount Ayr as first alternate and Steve TRULLINGER
of Mount Ayr as second alternate to the county committee.
Lee BRAND, who was recently honored for 25 years of service at the Rideta Electric Cooperative, was named line superintendent
recently.
King and queen candidates for the Grand Valley homecoming included Garen PALMER, son of Wayne and Ann PALMER of
Grand River; Andy SICKELS, son of Larry and Linda SICKELS of Kellerton; Steve WOOLLUMS, son of Perry and Sally
WOOLLUMS of Kellerton; Brian DEEMER, son of John and Nancy DEEMER of Grand River; Beth STILL, daughter of Eldon STILL
of Kellerton and Ann STILL of Mount Ayr; Penny BOLES, daughter of Burnell and Peggy BOLES of Grand River; Sheila
PHELPS, daughter of Verlin and Brenda PHELPS of rural Lamoni; and Brenda PIERSCHBACHER, daughter of Duane and Norma
WOOKEY of Grand River. Attendants were juniors Jill SCHWALBE and Chad HEWLETT, sophomores Jamie GREENLAND and
Jeff BEDIER, and freshman Racinda JACKSON and Darren CAMPBELL. Crownbearers were Kenny DUNEK and Kelli GREIMANN.
