Two Mount Ayr Community high school Business Professionals of America chapter members qualified for the national convention with
top finishes in state contests in Des Moines last week. Molly LYNCH won the extemporaneous speaking I contest and Dara
CREVELING placed second in the banking and finance contest to qualify for the national convention which will be held in
Minneapolis, MN.
Valentine's royalty selected at Mount Ayr Health Care Center were Joyce CHITTIM and Richard WADDELL.
Five Mount Ayr Community high school BPA members had entries which brought the medals but did not qualify them for national
competition. Students earning places in the top seven in state contests included Brad ELLIOTT, Melissa WINKLER, Becky POPPE,
and Shane BISHOP.
Raider wrestler Brett SHIELDS took second place at 119 pounds in the Class 1A state meet last week.
When the All-Iowa Honor Drill Team makes its 17th appearance at the girls state basketball tournament Saturday, March 11,
at Veterans Auditorium in Des Moines, a Mount Ayr Community high school student will be taking part. Angie SHIELDS, one of
the senior drill team captains, was selected to represent Mount Ayr Community high school.
