Kenneth BURGESS of Diagonal was the Iowa Lottery's biggest instant/scratch game winner in Ringgold county between
January 1, 2000 and April 4, 2000, winning $1,000 inthe "cash in the Couch" game. Lynn's Texaco Food Mart was Ringgold county's
hottest Iowa Lotery retailer.
Angie SHIELDS, a Mount Ayr Community high school senior, was named the second place winner in the Nancy McKAY HARSH
chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution good citizen essay contest this year. SHIELDS is the daughter of Raymond
and Donna SHIELDS of Mount Ayr.
A new soil conservationist has joined the staff of the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Ringgold county. Laura
FRANA will be working out of the office in Ringgold county.
Korbie RINEHART was presented the American Choral Directors Association award as the top senior choir member.
Shannon NORRIS or rural Kellerton was named the Arion winner as the top instrumental music senior at Mount Ayr
Community high school at the band concert Friday night.
Diagonal basketball standout Kylene STAMPS will be playing college basketball at Southwestern Community College in Creston.
An all-state second team selection, STAMPS averaged 23 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and six steals a game
last season.
A Mount Ayr Community high school senior has signed national letter of intent to participate in the cross country and track
program at Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, MO. Brad ELLIOTT currently has the best 800-meter time in
Class 2A in the state and is key to the Raiders qualifying some relays for state as well. Last year ELLIOTT placed 3rd
in the state in the 800-meter run at the state track meet.
