Norman THOMPSON won first place in the scooter contest, which closed September 15, according to the decision of the judges. He is entitled to the
motor scooter which retails for $109 or $81.75 in cash. Dean STUCK finished in second place and Raymond HUTCHINSON was third. The contest, sponsored by
25 Mount Ayr merchants, was conducted for 10 weeks' period. Thirty-five boys and girls were registerd.
The town hall is undergoing extensive repairs and when the work is completed, the building will have a new brick front, rounded corner on the northwest
corner entrance, the contract price of which is $875. A contract was let for laying a cement floor in that part of the fire hall, where the fire truck
is housed. The work has been completed at a cost of $125.
Betty SEASHOLTZ, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank SEASHOLTZ, of Kellerton, and Earl DEATON, of Chicago, IL., were married September 17 in the home of hte
bride's parents. Attendants of the young couple were Mr. and Mrs. Bob WITTE, of Wheatland, brother-in-law and sister of the bride. Mr. DEATON is a
druggist in Chicago, where he and his bride will make their home.
KELLERTON - Rev. and Mrs. O. L. JONES returned Saturday from Des Moines, where they had attended the Methodist Conference, and as he is retiring, they
will move their household goods to Corydon, where they have purchased property.
LINCOLN - Members of the farm program held a meeting recently in the District No. 6 [Carroll School] schoolhouse and elected the following officers: Charley VANDERPLUYM,
Ernest BAKER, Harvey LANDIS, Floyd TAYLOR and Fred STRANGE.
TINGLEY - On Tuesday, Frank RICHARDS became owner of the Tingley Service Station. Mr. RICHARDS will install his storage tanks on the back lots and continue[s]
in the tank wagon service. Eldon RICHARDS is in charge of the station at the present. Francis SMITH is working at the Farmers Elevator and Donald
SCOTT, who has been employed there, is helping his brother at the service station.
