City mail delivery service was inaugurated Saturday in Mount Ayr. Postal Inspector N. J. Beuchner of Council Bluffs
was at the local office all day Saturday, answered questions and assisted with the initial delivery. Inspector
Beuchner complimented the Lions Club for its fine work of installing numbers and boxes.
The All Blue Grass Conference football team, as selected by coaches of the conference, included on member from the Mount
Ayr Community high school squad. Mount Ayr's only representative on the team is Eddie BROWN, a halfback.
Paul HANSEN, senior in the Mount Ayr Community high school, has been cited for outstanding performance on the National
Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test taken last spring and has received a formal "Letter of Commendation" from the National
Merit Scholarship Corporation. Announcement of the citation has been made by Vance E. GEIGER, high school principal.
During a special meeting of administration of the Blue Grass Conference held November 14, in Lamoni, two schools, East
Union and Mormon Trail were added to the Blue Grass Conference. Lenox, a former member of the conference, had been admitted
at a previous meeting. Clarke Community, of Osceola, is leaving the conference to become a member of the South Central
Conference, however, Osceola will participate in the conference in football, but not basketball during the 195-61 season.
