At the reorganization meeting of the board of directors of the Independent School District of Mount Ayr, J.M. Anderson was elected president. Other members of the board are F. J. Daughton and George Irving.
Billie Finch has been appointed rationing administrator and custodian for sugar rationing for Ringgold county. Mr. Finch is also serving as chairman of civilian defense for Ringgold county.
Donella Rhoades, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Rhoades, is a member of the 60-voice Drake University a cappella choir and will appear with that group on a 1,200-mile tour during the Easter vacation.
O. G. Dixon, of Benton, has been appointed Ringgold county chairman for the "Salvage for Victory Campaign" for the duration of the emergency.
Vance Edward (sometimes known as Bill) Geiger is coach of the Hopkins, MO basketball team, which recently won the regional basketball title and last week won second place in the state Class B event at Springfield, MO. He has become known as one of the most successful coaches in northwest Missouri. His basketball teachings are a combination of Pop Varner, Hank Iba and Lefty Davis. His hobby is his boys and he spends endless hours teaching the the correct way to pass or pivot as well as the correct way to live.
TINGLEY - C. W. Lent purchased the Scott Bros. service station and garage at the west end of Main Street, and Ralph Bacon has been hired as manager of the new firm. The Scott brothers, Donald and O'Neal, only sons of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Scott, were called to service.
BIRTHS:
Born, March 11, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, a son, Earl Elton, to Mr. and Mrs. Burl Sackett. Weight, eight pounds and 10 ounces.
