Approximately 35 men, with pickers, wagons, trucks and elevators, went Friday to the N. H. CAMPBELL farm south of Kellerton and finished picking corn
for Larry CAMPBELL, who recently suffered an injured hand in a corn picker accident.
O. C. VARNER of Delphos suffered a stroke of paralysis Monday night about 11 p.m. at his home in Delphos. He is a patient in the Ringgold County Hospital
and his condition is described as serious. Mr. VARNER, after a long and distinguished career as a basketball coach and teacher in the Delphos, Diagonal
and Mount Ayr schools, retired in the fall of 1952 when he suffered a first stroke.
Dr. Duane MITCHELL of this city will serve as chairman of the 1958 Heart Fund Campaign in Ringgold County, Dr. Herman J. Smith of Des Moines,
president of the Iowa Heart Association, has announced.
Miss Louise ASKREN, former city librarian, suffered a fractured vertebrae Saturday night when she fell from a chair at her home in north Mount Ayr. Miss
ASKREN lives along and the extent of her injury was not determined until the next day when a doctor was summoned after her nephew, Arthur PALMER, called
at the ASKREN home. She is a patient in the Ringgold County Hospital where she submitted to surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon RICKER of Diagonal were included among those honored Friday night at a "Topnotchers" banquet served at the Coffee Shop in Corning by
the Archer Petroleum Company of Omaha, NE. For his outstanding sales ability during 1957, Mr. RICKER was presented with a certificate of award by
Glenn Eglehoff, district manager for southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri. Among the guests in attendance were officials of the company from Omaha, NE
and Ivan SHIELDS, Ringgold County manager and Mrs. SHEILDS of Mount Ayr.

ecent improvements in machines used by dentists include a "Borden Aerotor," one of which was installed recently in the office of Dr. B. W. KNIGHT of this
city. It powers the drill used by dentists, using water, oil and air.
Births reported at Ringgold County Hospital this week:
A son, Rodney Lavern, born Dec. 14, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles ANGEROTH, Lamoni.
A daughter, born, Dec. 17, to Mr. and Mrs. Volley HENRY, Blockton
