Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, December 19, 1940

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

Mrs. H. M. Miller last week presented a Hammond organ to the Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. Although reluctant to describe this generous deed, she did say that she wished the organ dedicated to the "glory of God."

Jeri Mills, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mills of Brentwood, TN and grandson of Mrs. Belle Bartow, of this city, received an appointment last week to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD.

Legionnaries and members of the Auxiliary heard an address by State Commander Robert Shaw, of Sigourney, Wednesday evening in Mount Ayr. Those who appeared on the musical program were Margaret Hudson, Catherine Bevington, VA Skinner and Faith and Carol Lamoreaux.

BIRTHS:

  • CLEARFIELD - Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Longfellow are the parents of a daughter, born December 7.

  • Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Lyndell Thompson, at a hospital in Webster City, a daughter. Weight, six and three-fourths pounds.

Transcription by Sharon R. Becker, May of 2016
