"Yard Sale, Cheap!" was the title of the spring play presented by a large cast of Mount Ayr Community high school students at the high school auditorium Friday and Saturday. Shaun KNIEP directed the production.

The granddaughter of Ringgold county residents was recently named second runner-up in the Iowa Junior Miss competition held in Ottumwa. Kasey TAYLOR, daughter of Scott and Trudy TAYLOR of Ames, received the honor. She was also awarded achievement scholarships based on scholastics, interview, talent, fitness and poise. She is the granddaughter of Hank and Phyllis SMITH of Mount Ayr and the great-granddaughter of Lee and Margaret FLETCHALL of Mount Ayr.

Two Southwestern Community College students were recently honored as members of the 2004 All-Iowa Academic Team for community colleges. Robyn JOHNSON of Greenfield and Landi McFARLAND of Ellston were chosen to represent the college by a selection committee made up of SWCC faculty and staff members.

Jim OVERHOLSER was the repeat champion of the annual Gene Sevier Cribbage tournament sponsored by the Mount Ayr Park Board and Clearview Home held at Clearview Home Saturday.

A Mount Ayr resident dominated the championship class of the horseshoe pitching contest at the Putt Mossman Arena in Eldora Saturday. Marv WOOLLUMS went undefeated in the championship class and averaged 62.23 percent ringers for the day.
