The investigation continues into the May fire at the Mount Ayr Community High School autitorium, according to state fire marshal investigator Jim Kinkel. Kinkel said that he has completed his report and forwarded it to the
Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI). The Des Moines DCI office, however, has been wrapped up in the investigation of a double murder near Adel.
Mount Ayr Mayor, Merrill Perry, announced his intention to not seek re-election at an abbreviated city council meeting Monday night. Perry cited personal reasons for his decision.
TSgt. Daniel D. Bear, son of Donald and Darlene Bear, who has been stationed at Nellis AFB Las Vegas, NV, left in mid-June for extended TDY for Operation Desert Storm.
Eric Dredge of Dredge Feed Service recently attended a feeding and management school at the headquarters of Kent Feeds, Inc., in Muscatine.
