Ann WERNER of Diagonal was named 1989 "CowGal" as the state's top Cattle Woman during the state meeting of the
Iowa Cattlemen and Cattle Women.
University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City is seeking a perfect match bone marrow donor for Jayne GROSS RIVERA
who has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. RIVERA is the daughter of Joe and Helen GROSS of Mount Ayr and
a 1970 graduate of Mount Ayr Community high school.
Amber SOBOTKA of Diagonal and Tricia CARSON of Clearfield placed first in their age divisions for girls in
the 1990 Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest. SOBOTKA made 17 of 25 shots in the 10-11 division and CARSON
made 19 of 25 in the 12-13 division.
Jay WATSON has been named president of the Mount Ayr Chamber of commerce for 1990. Others elected to the board
are Athena STRANGE, Paul GLENDENNING and Collus LAWHEAD.
