Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
January 18 & January 21, 1916

George H. Rains has received notice of his election to the office of lieutenant colonel of the First Regiment, Patriarchs Militant of Iowa.

Beginning February 1, the Mount Ayr Light and Power Company will give continuous service, with the exception of Sundays, when the current will be off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Heretofore, the ligts have been turned off at midnight. Newly elected officers of the company are: President, F. E. Sheldon; vice-president, A. R. Shrimplin; secretary, Howard Tedford; and treasurer, George S. Allyn.

DIAGONAL - Chas. Wroughton will put in a blacksmith shop on north Main Street in the building owned by John Dillenburg and will make a specialty of horse shoeing.

Dedication services of the Presbyterian Church were held Sunday morning. The amount of money to be raised was $1,500, and it was raised in full and a few dollars over.

Delmar Ketch left Tuesday for Murray, where he has employment as cook in a restaurant.

Mount Ayr Lodge No. 169, I.O.O.F., has installed the following officers: Noble Grand, W. E. Davis; vice-grand, Howard Lesan; recording secretary, Clarence E. Thompson; permanent secretary, George E. Wright; and treasurer, Sherman McCullough.

BIRTHS:

  • LIBERTY and MONROE - Mr. and Mrs. George Delp are the parents of a daughter, born January 14.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Paul Finley are the happy parents of a daughter, born January 16, in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Finley.
