Production began this week at the new Mount Ayr Products Division of Iowa Assemblies, which assembles cross body harnesses for General Motors J car body style vehicles. The new 30,000 square feet facility is one of five plants of the company in southern Iowa with other locations at Lamoni, Murray, Lucas and Osceola. There are 46 people hired for direct labor and a staff of 20 supervisory and quality control staff at work now and the majority of them were from the Ringgold county area.

One new record was set at the successful CROPWalk held in Ringgold county October 6. A total of 20 different churches were represented this year. A previous high had been 16. Milt HENDERSON, treasurer, reports he has banked $1,150 as of Tuesday night, Oct. 15.

Mount Ayr Community's junior high school band participated in the annual Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree in Clarinda Saturday, October 8. The band was among 39 bands judged in parade or field competition, or both, during the day-long event.

Dr. Bhalchandra Rambhai PATEL and family are now settled in Mount Ayr, where Dr. PATEL will have a general medicine and surgery practice in association with Dr. Roy E. FELL of Physicians Associates PC, in Mount Ayr.

Two businesses are open this week in new facilities. First State Bank opened its new headquarters office in Mount Ayr in the former Tingley State Savings Bank building Tuesday morning. DUNKESON Upholstry moved to its new quarters in a building near the DUNKESON home at 1100 N. Taylor Street. The business is run by Mrs. Keleta DUNKESON.
