George SMITH, who for the past few weeks has been employed as assistant at the Burlington depot in this city, has resigned from his position,
and this morning a new assistant, T. F. QUINN, of Westma, MO., was on the job.
Frank VORHIES, a member of the Ringgold county board of supervisors, was elected vice-president of the State Supervisors Association during a recent
meeting in Des Moines.
Alice Van HOOZER, of New Hampton, Mo., arrived in this city last evening to assume her duties as trimmer in the MILLIGAN Millinery. Miss Van HOOZER,
who is an excellent trimmer, comes to Mount Ayr from the Millinery shop in St. Joseph, MO.
Mrs. Florence GUESS returned recently from Des Moines, where she had been employed in the central office of the Bell Telphone Company for the past few
weeks. She didn't like the city as much as expected and since the position was open for her in Mount Ayr, she decided to return.
Otto BEVINGTON has accepted a position in the "Palace of Sweets" and began work this week.
Zelma KIRBY left yesterday morning for Clemons, where she has a postion in the consolidated schools for the coming year.
City Marshal L. M. BRINKERHOFF reports that through the courtesy of the businessmen he has located enough of the hold hitching racks, which were taken
from around the square, to provide convenient hitching places for the farmers' teams. The racks are located behind the SLENTZ Store, McMASTER'S Meat
Market, CRECELIUS' Produce House and the offices of Dr. HORNE and Dr. LESAN. They and the racks at the various churches in the city will provide ample room until
the paving has been been completed and the racks relocated around the square.
The aeroplane was unable to make a flight during the reunion on account of the radiator getting lost on its way here. It came Friday evening and the
machine was taken to W. H. MOSBARGER'S pasture on Saturday morning and the Chicago aviator made an attempt to fly, but as he stated, had the misfortune
to run into a fence in the southwest corner and broke the propeller and tore the wings. The needed repairs have been ordered.

POE - Mr and Mrs. Waler LESAN are the proud parents of a baby girl, born August 10.
KNOWLTON - Born, August 12, to Mr. and Mrs. Chas. KELLER, a ten-pound daughter.
KELLERTON - Mr. and Mrs. W. L. FRISBY are rejoicing over the arrival of a beautiful little daughter at their home, born August 16.
Mr. and Mrs. G. S. WEBB, Jr., are the proud parents of a little son, born to them on August 13.
