A preliminary hearing in magistrate's court in Mount Ayr is scheduled Friday morning in the case of Joe A. JACKSON,
local insurance agency, who has been charged with attempted murder. JACKSON, 53, remained in Ringgold county jail
Tuesday morning in lieu of $350,000 bail, charged with attempting to hire the killing of his wife, Carmetta.
Bob LORIMOR, a former Mount Ayr resident and now a staff member of the Iowa Falls Times-Citizen newspaper,
came home from the annual Iowa Press Photographers Association convention April 12 with five awards.
Richard SWEET, former Place's manager in Mount Ayr, has been named to a new position in the company, according to
company president Phillip W. PLACE. SWEET is now merchandise buyer for the firm, which has headquarters in
Bethany, MO.
Douglas SADEWASSER, driver education instructor at Mount Ayr Community high school, has been elected to a three-year
term on the board of dirctors of the Iowa Association of Safety Education.
Murray SHAHA of Mount Ayr caught an armload of catfish out of the old city reservoir lake Friday. The catfish tipped
the scales at well over 22 pounds SHAHA said. He said the trophy catfish put up quite a fight.
