Tragedy struck an Ellston family twice this week. Fourteen-year-old Ray CREVELING was found dead in his home
from a gun shot wound. Then Thursday after his funeral a relative [Donald Paul Lee PALMER] that was in the area for the funeral drowned
in a boating accident at Sun Valley Lake. The school was closed Tuesday for the funeral and activities hae
been rescheduled or canceled due to the visitation and funeral.
Four-year-old Tristin SCARLETT of Mount Ayr was injured in a traffic accident in Mount Ayr Tuesday afternoon. He
ran across the street in front of a vehicle driven by Rose CAMPBELL of Mount Ayr. He was struck and pulled
underneath the vehicle.
The Gooseberry Lake project in Ringgold County would be part of a grid system to provide water through out the
Southern Iowa Rural Water Association system. That is the long-term plan which was presented to representatives
of the boards of supervisors of nine counties in a meeting held in Creston recently.
