A hearing has been set Oct. 21 in San Diego County, California to determine if Charles Lloyd TYLER, 34, arrested and
held in the county jail there in connection with the Mount Ayr murder of Alberta MICKAEL, is the identical person
sought by local authorities. According to a letter to Sheriff Elbert STRANGE, documentation is being sought to show that
TYLER is the same person authorities here have charged in the slaying. The identity hearing is one step in the
process to have TYLER extradited to Iowa for trial.
When Royce DAVIS, president of the Mount Ayr Security State Bank, cleaned out his desk Tuesday, Oct. 14, preparatory to
retirement from active duty, he takes with him many precious memories. Some of them are hard work that brought him from
general duties when he started employment there in 1937, through being assistant cashier, to cashier-vice president and
eventually being named president on Jan. 1, 1963.
Announcement is made this week of the purchase of a Tingley business by a Mount Ayr businessman. Joe JACKSON, who
operates the Joe JACKSON Insurance Agency, has purchased the Carl G. RIGGS Insurance Agency at Tingley, effective Nov.
1 1980. He said he would be in the Tingley area several days a week to service customers. A 1950 graduate of Mount
Ayr high school, JACKSON purchased the Frank CLARKE Agency in Mount Ayr in 1973 and bought the Diagonal Insurance
Agency in 1975. A Korean war veteran, JACKSON has more than 20 years experience in the insurance business and is fully
licensed in Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri.
