Plans for converting the old reservoir into a public swimming pool have been endorsed by the Mount Ayr Co-operative Club, and Raymond JOHNSTON and
Franklin SPURRIER, members of the club, have been appointed as a committee to work with Park Commissioners J. A. BEARD, Mrs. George IRVING and
M. A. WITHERS.
Maxine BIRD, who has been employed for seven months by the State Automobile Insurance Association in Des Moines, was recommended by the company
and received her diploma last Monday as a graduate of the American Institute of Business.
Bill BUCK, who attends the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, has demonstrated his skill in a competitive typing contest by typing
61 words a minute without an error for 15 minutes and at a rate of 70 words a minute errorless in a 10-minute test.
Newly elected officers of the Sub-Deb Club are Wilma WILLIS, president; Lila DRAKE, vice-president; Evelynne HOOD, secretary; and Dorothy MAHAN,
treasurer.
ELLSTON - Commencement exercises will be held May 16, for seven seniors - Doris Ann JOHNSON, Elmer BUELL, Faye REASONER, Eldon DAUB, Daughn REASONER,
Ernest BUELL and Donald ALLAN.
REDDING - During a meeting of the P.T.A. held Thursday night, the following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Guy STATON; vice-president, Mrs. R. B.
ARNEAL; and secretary, Dayton NORRIS. Members of the 1940 graduating class are: Dorothy ADAIR, Harold BAKER, Bob HENRY, Jack SHAW, Mary LaMOND, Dorothy
SHAW, Barbara THOMAS and Ruth COX.
CLEARFIELD - Dorothy LANE, of Benton, came Saturday to begin work in Mickey's Cafe.

Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert HUDSON at their home in Mount Ayr, on May 14, a daughter, Beverly Jane. Weight, eight pounds. Friends agree with the
proud father, who is manager of the United Food Market, that tis also is "As It Should Be."
Born, to Mr. and Mrs. John H. DENHART, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, May 15, a daughter. She weighed eight and one-half pounds and has
been named Sybil Ann.
Mr. and Mrs. Emmet R. WARIN are the parents of a son, Michael George, born May 11, in the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Weight, eight and
one-half pounds.
