Fred Kokesh, of Washington township, has invented an automobile tire which is made of steel and two coil springs which pass over coil spring cushions forming the tread. Mr. Kokesh has the first tire
completed on his car, has run it about 100 miles without the slightest sign of wear and everybody who has ridden in the car says it is impossible to detect any difference in the vibration of the car. If
developed and placed on the market, the tire will prove a great savings to car owners.
At a recent meeting of the Mount Ayr Volunteer Fire Department, C. G. Stranahan was elected chief to suceed B. H. Thompson, who had served in the office for a number of years. Guy Todd was
elected assistant chief; Charles Teale, chief engineer; H. S. Tyrrel, clerk; and G. E. Manners, treasurer.
Attorney H. C. Beard, of this city, received notice Wednesday that he had been appointed by Mayor Harriman as town attorney of Kellerton. Mr. Beard was appointed some time ago by Mayor Beard to the
position of attorney of Mount Ayr.
J. W. Schaupp, of Fort Dodge, who owns the farm occupied by I. C. Hightshoe in Riley township, recently purchased a motor truck for use on his farm. It is the first motor truck used in the county.
Three or four loads of from two to three tons in weight are being hauled every day and Mr. Hightshoe expects to use the truck to haul his hogs to market next Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Giddings arrived Tuesday from Weir, Kansas, and will make their home in Mount Ayr, where Mr. Giddings will manage the Mount Ayr Lumber Company's yard.
Dr. and Mrs. W. D. Christy moved Tuesday from Creston to the Mollie Jarvis property.
DIAGONAL - Diagonal's first lot sale took place Wednesday afternoon when the Smith Realty Co., which had recently purchases 12 aces of the E. R. Pine farm, sold the lots at auction.
The tract of land was divided into 56 lots, all of which were sold. The $50 in gold to be given away were drawn in $10 lots by I. A. Talley, F. E. McCarty, N. M. Birkel, Mrs. Ed Poole and Mrs. F. F. Fogle.
KELLERTON - The Kellerton ladies held an equal suffrage meeting Tuesday afternoon in the Christian Church, effected an orgnization and elected the following officers:
President, Mrs. I. J. Dalbey; vice-president, Mrs. J. M. Havely; secretary, Mrs. W. I. Frisby; treasurer, Mrs. C. E. French and press chairman; Mrs. Grant McCullough, librarian.

DELPHOS - Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Barner are the parents of a son, born May 14.
REDDING - Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lynch are the proud parents of a baby boy, born May 11.
