KELLERTON - Homer CLARK has rented the Kellerton House and opened for business Thursday morning. Forest NOBLES, who has been studying
telegraphy at the college at Chillicothe, MO., has taken the examination and went Sunday to Topeka, KS., where he has a postion.
DIAGONAL - The Preliminary Contest was held in the high school auditorium and the following placings were given: First, Alice GOODALE;
second, Oscar WEBBER; third, Ray BAILEY; and alternate, Mary MILLER. They will take some special training before the final contest, which
is to be held within the next few weeks. A deal was made Monday whereby the Diagonal Progress and complete equipment owned by C. F.
QUINN, was purchased by Carson WILLIAMS, Ernest McGUIRE, who has been for Mr. QUINN, will remain in the office and assist Mr. WILLIAMS with
the work.
Florence SHIELDS has accepted a position as saleslady in R. E. Fisher & Co.'s Store and began work yesterday.
At the meeting of the Mount Ayr School board held Monday in the Mount Ayr Bank, the newly elected members, George S. ALLYN and John
E. SCOTT, qualified, and the board organized by electing Mr. ALLYN, president. Mr. ALLYN has served as the president of the board
continuously since 1876.
HIGH SCHOOL NOTES - In the basketball game played Friday evening between the Mount Ayr and Grant City girls, the local team won by a
score of 13 to 0. They made eight points in the first half and during the second half scored five points. The lineups were as follows:
Mount Ayr - TIMBY and MOORE, forwards; GOODWIN and LAWHEAD, centers, and ROBERTS and STEPENSON, guards. Grant City - SCOTT and HASS,
forwards, DUNFEE and HASS, centers, and WILKINS and ROBINSON, guards.
