Thursday, June 16, 1955

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Roy LEPLEY, county centennial chairman, received a telegram from Dwight E. Eisenhower, president of the United States, congratulating Ringgold county on the occasion of its centennial obserance. The telegram read as follows: "My greetings go to the citizens of Ringgold county on its 100th anniversary. To all its citizens who gather together in Mount Ayr for the centennial celebration, I send best wishes for a happy observance of this event, significant in the history of your state. I hope the residents of Ringgold county will enjoy continued progress and prosperity in the decades ahead. Dwight D. Eisenhower."

Francis HACKER, Dan STEELE and Bob POTTORFF returned Sunday from Camp Dodge, where during the past week they had attended Hawkeye Boys State.

C. W. WOOLLARD, pastor of the local Methodist church, has been returned for his third year of service.

Dr. Robert E. WILKINSON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy WILKENSON, of this city, was recently appointed to the position of plant virologist to assist the Israel government in setting up a research program in plant diseases. He will work with the staff at the Rehovot Experimental Station, which is near Tel Aviv. Dr. WILKINSON has been granted a year's leave of absence from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, where since he received his Ph.D degree in plant pathology seven years ago, he has served on the staff as a research professor in diseases of plants and vegetables.

Friends of the Fay BRYANTS of Dillon, CO, former residents of Mount Ayr, will be interested to learn that their younger son, Bob, was graduated June 10 from Colorado A & M College, Fort Collins, with a degree of doctor of veterinary medicine.
