Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

The annual distribution of milk to children of the kindergarden and first six grades of the Mount Ayr Public School, sponsored by the American Red Cross, began last week. This year, one-half pint of milk is given daily to each of the 104 pupils in the seven classes. The cost of the program will amount to $3.12 per day. The Red Cross will pay for approximately 75 per cent of the cost and the reaminder will be paid by the parents.

The marriage of Ralph Nichols, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nichols, of Tingley, to Lillian Tirevold, of Estherville, occurred December 24. They will make their home in Estherville, where he has a good position as dairy supervisor. At the recent annual banquet of the State Dairy Herd Association, Mr. Nichols was honored as one of the ten highest ranking supervisors in the state of Iowa.

Newly installed officers of Royal Neighbors Camp 1061 of Mount Ayr are Laura Wion, Leota Tompkins, Ada Rhoades, Lavinia Campbell, Eula Roe, Velma Wimer, Lorene Combs, Alice Hart, Linn Carson, Maude Wimer, Addie Main, Blanche Stamper, Zona Hoyt, Bessie Thompson, Avis Hetzel, Thelma Andrew, Imogene Dickerson, Florence Sackett and Thalia Endsley/

BIRTHS:

  • Born, to Mr. and Mrs. John McGilvrey on January 10, a son, John Bennett. Weight, seven and one-half pounts.
  • MALOY - Born, January 11, to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stephens, a daughter.
  • BLOCKTON - Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jeanes are the parents of a son, born January 10.
