Ringgold County volunteers of the American Cancer Society raised $3,775 in their 1990 community Crusade door-to-door activities. This marks a $1,068 increase over the 1989 Crusade, according to Joyce WEEHLER, Ringgold County chairperson.

Fourteen Iowa community colleges including Southwestern Community College in Creston and 27 high schools, including the Mount Ayr Community High School, picked up their free 1990 Oldsmoblies in Davenport August 14.

An exchange student from France is spending a month in the home of Dale and Marlene TULL of Diagonal. Emmanuelle Lery is from Brittany, France, and lives in the community of Fiantec, which has a population of about 3,000.

A Mount Ayr student, Marcy MILLER, has been awarded a scholarship for the 1990-91 school year at the Iowa State University in the university's program of women in science and engineering. MILLER received the $1,000 Roy J. Carver Scholarship.
