Link NYLEN, president of Woodlink, Ltd., was the speaker at athe 23rd annual meeting of the Southern Iowa council of
Governments/Southern Iowa Development Group Tuesday, March 5, at Berning's in Creston. NYLEN talked about the creation
and evolution of the wood products firm that is expanding its plant in Mount Ayr. Prior to 1980, NYLEN was involved in
building the industry in Des Moines. During the early 1980s his interests changed to carpentry and consulting and in 1988
he decided to open a woodworking business. After visiting with Jack ELLIOTT and members of the Ringgold County
Development Corp. an agreement was reached regarding a building location and Woodlink, Ltd., started production.
Karen ELMER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rich ELMER of rural Mount Ayr, was crowned as the 1996 Ringgold County Pork
Queen by last year's princess, Nancy ELMER, her sister, at the annual meeting of the Ringgold county Pork Association.
