The results of the February rural eighth grade examinations were sent out last week. There were 113 who wrote the examination and of this number 35 passed. All but six of the ones who failed will be permitted to combine the grades earned this time with the results of the next examination in May. The highest average in the county was earned by Victor Cutler, of District No. 9 [Eighme School], Tingley township, the average being 93 per cent.
Walter Beall recently sold his garage and automobile business in Shannon City and has taken a position as salesman for the Studebake corporation with headquarters in Centerville.
Arch Butler and Floyd Baker left this morning for North Dakota, where they have employment.
DIAGONAL - The Diagonal Mutual Telephone company has elected T. B. Busby, of Hatfield, MO, as operator for the coming year at a salary of $50 per month. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Briggs, who served at operators
for the past year, are leaving Diagonal.
BIRTHS
RINGGOLD - Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shields are the proud parents of a baby boy.
RINGGOLD - Mr. and Mrs. Charley Haley are rejoicing over the arrival of a ten-pound boy, born March 11.
