The ordination and installation of Lloyd E. SHAW will be conducted by the Presytery of College Springs on Tuesday
evening, July 19, in the United Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr. Mr. SHAW was recently graduated from the Xenia Theological
Seminary at Pittsburgh, PA and received his A.B. degree from Grove City College. While a student at the seminary, he served
as acting pastor in the United Presbyterian Churches at Mars, Rometown and Plumer, PA. Mr. and Mrs. SHAW are now at
home in the manse in Mount Ayr.
A prayer service for Charles Michael and Gregory LeRoy PETERMAN, infant twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. PETERMAN,
215 West Park, Nevada, MO, was held Monday afternoon, June 27. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn BEAR of Kellerton
and Dr. and Mrs. L. S. DUGAN and Charles Ray PETERMAN of Rich Hill, MO. Charles Michael and
LeRoy were born on June 25, 1955, and died June 26, 1955. They were interred at Moore Cemetery, Nevada, Missouri.
A total of 3,715 persons signed their names in the guest register in the lower corridor of the courthouse during the centennial
celebration in Mount Ayr, according to Mrs. Charles W. LAWHEAD, chairman of the hospitality committee. They represented
32 states, Washington, D.C., Canada and Korea. Many more visitors are known to have failed to record their names.
Ringgold county will be included on the intinerary for the visit in Iowa of the agricultural delegation from the
Soviet Union. The delegation, which includes 14 Russian agricultural officials and technical experts, will visit the
Ralph LONG farm four miles northwest of Mount Ayr on the old Diagonal-Mount Ayr road. Mr. and Mrs. LONG will
explain the operation of their "family type" farm.
R. E. HAUPTMANN, vocational agriculture instructor in the Mount Ayr schools, was elected to the office of vice-president
of the Iowa Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association at its annual conference. Mr. HAUPTMANN served the state
association as secretary-treasurer in 1945-46 and as vice-president in 1946-47.
