Becky WEEHLER, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Dick WEEHLER of Maloy, was crowned the 1985 Ringgold County Pork Queen by
Tammy WALTERS at the annual meeting of the Ringgold County Pork Producers. WALTERS, the 1984 County Pork Queen,
also served as the District 10 Prok Queen during the year.
Delores MONDAY, daughter of Jay and Marilyn MONDAY and operating room nurse at the Medical Center of Independence, MO.,
has been names as a nominee for "employee of the year" in the greater Kansas City area.
A poem written by Nathan SMITH of Mount Ayr was published this month in Highlights For Children, a national
children's magazine. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan SMITH of Mount Ayr.
The death of Harry GRIMES on February 10 at Mount Ayr Health Care Center brought to a close 102 years of living in
Ringgold County for this retired farmer. GRIMES' wife died when she was about 30 years old, leaving him a widower
for more years than many live.
Herman SUMNER and Charles McGAHUEY played Turkey in the Straw and other numbers for Mount Ayr Community
third graders who were studying about instruments in their third grade music classes. The violin and guitar were
used to acquaint the class with music of string instruments.
