Two people were named to the Sun Valley Rural Improvement Zone following a special election held Tuesday, December 5. Larry Sackett received 30 votes and Bob Lauritsen received 25 votes.

A Mount Ayr Community student is participating in the Kohawk wrestling team this winter at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Kevin Trullinger, a 2004 graduate of Mount Ayr Community high school and the son of Steve and Gail Trullinger of Mount Ayr, is a member of the team.
