Elementary principal Rob OLSEN has resigned to take a position as principal at Canyon Elementary School in Colorado
Springs, CO. OLSEN has been elementary principal at Mount Ayr Community elementary school for four years.
A pledge of up to $75,000 to help with the restoration of the Princess Theater on the Mount Ayr square was announced
this week by the Dekko Foundation of Kendallville, IN.
For the third time in the last 15 years the Mount Ayr Community high school concert band received a perfect ballot when
picking up a division I rating at the large group contest in Bedford Saturday. The band has received many division I
ratings over the years, but in the last 15 years they have had only received perfect ballots of40 points out of
a possible 40 points three times -- in 1992, 1994 and now in 2004.
The Mount Ayr Community school district will again have a health occupations class offered for the 2004-05 school year.
That was the decision of the school board after hearing a report on plans for the school nurse Marcia SHOWALTER to
teach Health Careers Land Health Careers II classes next year.
Stephens Tire and Oil in Mount Ayr was welcomed by the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting last
Wednesday. Ken STEPHENS and wife Cindy opened the tire and oil shop next to Splash n' Dash on Highway 2 and 169.
