Janet McCLURE and Dale WALKUP were elected to the Mount Ayr Community school board. Gale HOOD was re-elected to the
Diagonal School board. In the Grand Valley district, Eldon STILL was re-elected and Mike ADKISSON won a board
seat in a write-in. Winners in the Clearfield district were Maralene LONGFELLOW, Walter GREEN and Craig BAKER.
In addition, Dr. Duane MITCHELL of Mount Ayr was re-elected to the board of Southwestern Community College. He was
running unopposed for that office.
Janice BROWN, director of nursing at Ringgold County Hospital, was presented the hospital's new employee merit
award this week. The award was made by John SHAFER, chairman of the employee merit committee.
Four awards, including three for news writing and one for advertising, were presented to the Mount Ayr
Record-News in the Iowa Newspaper Association contests this weekend.
Marcy MILLER, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Keith MILLER of Mount Ayr, was selected as a princess to represent the
Dorset Sheep Association during a Sept. 8 meeting of the Iowa Association.
Teena PETERSOHN has been appointed clerk-treasurer of the town of Tingley to replace Cathy MASON, who resigned
effective Sept. 30.
