Garry WION, salutatorian of the senior class of the Mount Ayr Community high school, and class president, has received from the Iowa State University scholarship awards committee a $252 scholarship award, one of the highest awards presented by the committee to high school seniors.

John N. KING, radio personality with WHO in Des Moines, former high school instructor and air traffic control specialist with the Federal Aviation Agency, will be the guest speaker for the annual commencement exercises of the Mount Ayr Community high school to be held May 24. The subject on which Mr. KING will speak is "Planning Your Flight," based on his radio program.

Vern TAGGART, Mount Ayr barber, suffered two fractured ribs and a chipped bone in his left shoulder Sunday morning about 9:45 a.m. in an automobile accident four miles south of Diagonal on Highway No. 66.

Marcia FENNEMA is one of 20 students chosen for Mortar Board senior women's honor society at the State University of Iowa, Iowa City. Miss FENNAMA, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman FENNEMA of this city [Mount Ayr], is vice-president of Beth WELLMAN House in Burge Hall dormitory, accompanist for the Old Gold Singers and is a member of the Scottish Highlanders.

On April 30, Connie SANDAGE, accoumpanied by Bernadine BASSETT, her typing instructor, went to Kansas City, MO to enter a national typing contest, one of 25 regional constests sponsored by the FACIT Typewriter Corporation. Five hundred top typing students, who had been selected in a preliminary contest, completed. Connie rated fourth on accuracy and fifth on speed among 12 contestants from three states.
