The Mount Ayr Community school board moved Monday night to move ahead with developing alternatives to the 1936 wing of the elementary school after a study found a number of items that were critical and needed immediate attention and others that were less critical, but would need to be addressed in a remodeling or new construction project.

Community members are invited to bring in the new year with a little laughter by joining Moonlighter's Theatre Group in their upcoming production of an old-fashioned melodrama, "Belle of Bisbee." Judy Cunning will serve as director, Ellen Elliott as assistant director and Jane Lawhead as producer.
