RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, January 12 & January 15, 1915

Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

Lova THOMPSON, who for several months has been employed in the city by Fannie NICHOL, left last week for Monmouth, IA, where she entered the conservatory to study piano and voice. Miss THOMPSON, although she never studied away from home, is even now an excellent musician.

The old opera house, which has been owned by Mrs. Sarah DeBOLT, of Maloy, was sold last week to Kelsey JOHNSTON, proprietor of the Mount Ayr Granite and Marble Works. The new owners expect to remodel the opera house and fix it up for a business house within the year.

Lester HACKRE, mail carrier on Route five out of Mount Ayr, expresses his thanks to the patrons of his route for a pair of new horse blankets given him yesterday.

Edna McQUIGG, who has been the efficient deputy county treasuerer, has resigned her position and accepted a position as bookkeeper in the Iowa State Bank. James LAWHEAD, who has been clerking in Freeland & Carr's store, is assisting his father, R.A. LAWHEAD, in the treasurer's office.

B.E. RUSHING and F.M. HARLAND, of Humeston, were in the city yesterday and purchased 22 horses. The compnay for whom they work recently shipped 27,000 calvary and artillery horses to England and France for use in the great European war.

C.L.V. THOMPSON left Wednesday for Chicago, IL., where he expects to study the latest styles in tailoring, cutting, sewing, etc., in the Tailors Cutting School.
