A Mount Ayrgraduate student is helping Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Arkansas do research into the history of
the Pinnacle Mountain area. In celebration of Arkansas' Sequicentennial in 1986, the Park has employed historian
intern Denise JOBE, who is seeking her master's degree in public history at the University of Arkansas at
Little Rock. JOBE, who is from Mount Ayr, is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State Universityat Maryville, MO. She
is the daughter of James and Glenda JOBE of Tingley.
Committee persons forthe Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service township committees for 1986 were named
this week. The Ringgold County ASC committee of Gerald BAKER of Clearfield, Marion CREVELING of Ellston and
Linform MASON of Ellston met Friday, December 6, to tabulate the ballots of the community committee mail
elections. New members of the committees include Ernest MERCER, Max GRIEMANN, Galen BAKER, Kenneth CREVELING,
Ronnie CREVELING, Ted DERSCHEID, Ivan SOBOTKA and Ted RICKER, Jr.
Maxine SICKELS' doll house decorated for the season with bears forthe holiday greeting of a "beary" Merry
Christmas was one of the displays during the doll and craft show held at the Neighborhood Center in Mount Ayr
December 4. Over 150 people attended the show where 42 collectors dolls were on display along with a number of
handmade dolls for Christmas. Alsoshown were the 72 dolls that women in the community had reburbished and
redressed for Christmas giving through the Toys for Tots program in the county this Christmas.
A life membership in the Iowa State Education Association has been granted to Mrs. Kathleen T. FREED of Redding.
Mrs. FREED has taught for over 40 years, with the last 19 years in Mount Ayr Community school district.
Kenneth CAMPBELL was among the group who passed their board tests recently to be a licensed practical nurse. He
is enrolled now in the associate degree of nursing at Southwestern Community College in Creston.
Forget-Me-Not Flowers and Gifts in Mount Ayr, a new flower and gift shop, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon
cutting ceremony recently.
