The Rev. Orville RINEHART, pastor of the First Baptist Church, was elected chairman of the Mount Ayr Minnisteral Association during a meeting of the organization
held Monday morning in the Unied Presbyteian church. Other officers elected were the Rev. Ward CAMPBELL, pastor of the Free Methodist Church, vice chairman; and
the Rev. Lloyd SHAW, pastor of the United Presbyertian Church, secretary-treasurer.
L. E. THOMPSON and Mrs. Donald THOMAS won the top prizes of $15 each in dollar certificates awarded Thursday afternoon and Friday night in the first phase of the
Mount Ayr merchants' Christmas program. Mrs. Marvin BROWN of Benton won the $5 certificate Thursday afternoon and Doyle HUNTER of Mount Ayr won the same amount Friday night.
Orr (Pete) REYNOLDS was elected president of the Ringgold Saddle Club at a meeting of that organization held Thursday night in the Legion hall. Other officers elected were
Raymond (Pat) RICE, vice president; Mrs. C. W. HORNE, secretary; Mrs. Percy SKINNER, treasurer; Otto SALTZMAN, trailride captain; assistant trailride captain, C. E. LAYTON;
reporter, Dwight JOHNSON; and membership committee, Keith HARDY.
The Tingley Lions Club received its charter from Lions International during a program held Thursday night at the theatre in Tingley. The charter was presented
by Fee Chew of Council Bluffs, governor of District 9-C, to Carl G. RIGGS, first president of the club.
Milton HENDERSON, district extension youth assistant, was honored at a banquet Tuesday evening in Ames by the Iowa Extension Association when he was awarded the Iowa Certificate
of Recognition for outstanding extension work during 1956 and 1957.
John E. FREELAND, executive vice president of Schweser's Stores, Columbus, NE, has been elected the first president of the Retail Merchants Association of the Retail
Merchants Association of Nebraska. Mr. FREELAND is a son-in-law of Dr. and Mrs. J. H. HILL and a nephew of Miss Sada and John DOWLING, all of Mount Ayr.
Phoebe PETERSEN, a senior in the Mount Ayr high school, has been named a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition, according to Principal Vance E.
GEIGER. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. PETERSEN, of this city, Phoebe is listed among the 7,500 high scorers on the Scholarship Qualifiying Test.
