Ringgold county sheriff's department personnel have put in many man hours, check along over 300 miles of country roads,
but Lyle LEONARD, 48, of Clearfield is still missing.
Winning champion honors in the Angus registered heifer class at the Ringgold County Fair recently was an Angus entry
shown by Brian ENGLAND.
Brandon YODER of Mount Ayr was named the most valuable player of the Small School West team in the Iowa Baseball Coaches
Association All-Star series in Sioux City last week. YODER was center fielder with the team of Class 1A and 2A all-stars
from the western half of the state which took part in the tournament with all other all-star teams from large and small
schools. YODER, who graduated from Mount Ayr Community high school in May, will be attending Graceland College in Lamoni
this fall, where he will be playing football and baseball.
A fishing trip to Loch Ayr brought a big catfish catch for Tracy FLETCHER of Mount Ayr. FLETCHER pulled a catfish out of
the lake Tuesday morning that tipped the scales at over three pounds.
Some 100 county residents who had come to the Ringgold county courthouse as possible jurors in the first murder
trial in Ringgold county in many years were sent home Monday afternoon when the case was settled through a plea bargain.
Aaron HAYS, 21, of Creston, pleaded guilty to one count of Class C felony child endangerment and one count of misdemeanor
child endangerment to bring the case to a close without going to trial. HAYS was charged in the death of 15-month-old Bailey GRAHAM
in an incident July 18, 1998, at a home north of Diagonal. GRAHAM was the daughter of Jolene SOBOTKA of Diagonal and
Mitchell GRAHAM of Creston.
