A one-two punch of spring storms hit Ringgold county in the past week. Thursday afternoon was what the National
Weather Service is calling strong straight winds did damage to several properties in the Redding and Middle Fork
areas. A rain storm Sunday night and Monday morning then brought water so quickly that the rivers and streams overflowed
their banks, causing damage to roads and bridges in the county.
Mount Ayr Community high school's Raider jazz band placed sixth in Class 2A at the Iowa jazz championships in Des
Moines. This is the second highest placing ever by the jazz band in the state championships. The only better placing
came in 1998 when the band placed fifth in the state.
A former Diagonal resident has been named to the board of trustees of the American Pharmaceutical Association at the
group's annual meeting in San Francisco, CA recently. Jenelle (TULL) SOBOTKA of Mason, OH will serve as a trustee
on the board of the group for a three-year term. SOBOTKA is the daughter of Howard and Jenesse TULL of Tingley. She is
a 1982 graduate of Diagonal high school and received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in
1989. She is married to Jon SOBOTKA, also a former Diagonal resident, and they have two children, Jamie and Drew.
