HIGH SCHOOL NOTES - The seniors attempted to write their name upon the pages of history last Friday, when, in the presence and with the approval of
the high school faculty and underclassmen, they laid a large rock on the corner of the campus, where they hope it will remain forever. The large
granite boulder was secured northeast of town and taken to the local marble workers where the figures "1915" were engraved upon it.
100 years ago, the class of 1915 placed this large granite boulder to secure their place in history in front of underclassmen and
school faculty. They had the local marble workers etch in the 1915 engraving. ~ Mount Ayr Record-News, Thursday, May 14, 1915, Page 4
