A second Ringgold County area school district will have a new superintendent for the 1996-97 school year. Dr. Roger GODFREY has resigned as superintendent of the Diagonal Community school district to accept the position of superintendent at the Cardinal Community school district in Eldon. The Clearfield Community school board has named a new superintendent for the 1996-97 school year - Dan HARGRAVE - after the retirement of David ANCILL was announced earlier this year and after serving in Clearfield for six years.

After months of preparation, a 17-member team of educators from other districts in Iowa spent two days in Mount Ayr Community high school last week as part of the North Central Association accreditation evaluation of the school district. The team looked at a series of school improvements goals that teams of staff members had developed and offered suggestions on strengths in the district, areas for improvement and recommendations.

A Diagonal player has been invited to participate in the Southwestern Community College boys southwest Iowa All-Star basketball game. Nick NELSON of Diagonal will be among 25 students from around the area who will be participating. The senior players were invited to play based on their performance during the regular season and post-season as well as any post-season awards they may have earned.
