The old Logan Hotel, which was partially destroyed by fire a few weeks ago, has been bought by Walter Lamb.

Walter Summers has taken a position in the Rexall Pharmacy, made vacant by the resignaton of Merrill King.

John Wall, who has been in the grocery business on the southwest corner of the square for the past twenty years, expects to move his stock of groceries to the west room of the Huggins buildin on the northwest corner of the square.

Delt Grenelsh, who has been manager of the Mount Ayr Lumbner Company's yard in this city for more than a year, resigned his position last week and will move to Mound City, MO where he has purchased a half interest in a yard. I. J. Dalbey, of Kellerton, general manager of the Mount Ayr Lumber Company, has personal charge of the local yard until the new manager, ED. L. Giddings, of Weir, KS, can make arrangements to move to Mount Ayr.

Work on the excavation for the new brick bandstand commenced Monday and is being done by members of the Community Club.

Word has [been] received yesterday from Detroit, confirming the appointment of Combs and Hall as local dealers for the Dodge Brothers in Mount Ayr and vicinity.

The Ellston High School walked away with the pennant in the Ringgold county oratorical contest held at Shannon City Friday evening. The three speakers were Bunker Walters, Imo Hoff and Myrtle Cooper. Imo and Myrtle each won a gold medal and the first overall was won for Ellston by Imo Hoff. Bunker did not win a gold medal in this contest, but he won a gold medal in the quadrangular at Weldon.

DIAGONAL - Frank McCracken, of the firm of McCracken & Crawford Lumber Company, sold his interest in the lumberyard to Mr. Crawford. He has moved his household goods to Red Oak where he will engage in the wholesale lumber business.

BIRTHS

  • MIDDLE FORK - Twins came to gladden the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Miller on April 5, weight eight pounds and six pounds. Their names are Paul and Pauline Miller.
