A division I rating for the Mount Ayr community high school band and a division II rating for the Mount Ayr Community
high school choir were picked up at the state large group contest in Essex Saturday.
Ringgold county was one of 13 Iowa counties designated as federal disaster areas by President George W. BUSH Wednesday,
May 2.
The Mount Ayr volunteer fire department is seeking funds through a grant to the city of Mount Ayr under a new Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program. A federal request for $91,800 would be matched by $10,200 in local funds to
purchase protective clothing and a tanker truck for the department.
Raiderette discus thrower Amy HYNEK will be making a return trip to the state girls track meet after taking first
place in the event at the district meet held in Mount Ayr Monday night. HYNEK threw the discus 114 feet to take the win
and qualify as the only Raiderette heading on to the state meet.
Brian INLOES, a Mount Ayr Community sixth grader, placed fourth in the state sixth grade math bee held in Marshalltown.
Tyson COMER received the Arion award as the top senior band student for the year.
Named to receive the American Choral Directors Association award as the top choir student was Theresa CHAMBERS.
