The Junior Atoms and Redding Rockets, Ringgold's two top junior 4-H basketball teams, will play the two top Union county junior 4-H teams tomorrow (Friday) night at 7 p.m. at Shannon City.

Clyde LESAN and Glenn LESAN announce the sale of their interests in the Clyde LESAN Company in Mount Ayr to W. B. CUNNING and their retirement from the firm, effective the first day of April. The transaction marks the close of 50 years of the highly successful business career of Clyde LESAN, senior member of the real estate, insurance, loans, farm management and abstract firm, which bears his name. Glenn LESAN retires from the firm after serving as farm manager since 1932.

Chief Ship's Clerk Paul R. BUCK, son of Mr. and Mrs. John BUCK of Diagonal, is coach of a winning navy basketball team, the ServPacs, at Honolulu, HI, which is playing this week in the All-Navy tourney in Seattle, WA after having won the armed forces senior tournament in Honolulu. Mr. and Mrs. BUCK and their children, Stephen, Elizabeth, Mary and Susan, will return to the States in April, upon his completion of 20 years of naval service, and will be located elsewhere. They plan to visit with his parents at that time.

Funeral services for Bert A. BALLOU, 84 years of age, publisher of the Kellerton Globe for a period of 49 years, were held yesterday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Vernon NORRIS.

Mrs. Grace E. JORGENSON of Scranton assumed her duties Monday of last week as ninth grade English instructor in the Mount Ayr Community high school. She replaces Mrs. Maude RUST. Mrs. Junior SHIELDS of Mount Ayr has been employed as sixth grade instructor in the Benton School, which duties she assumed February 29. She is substituting for Mrs. Jack HOWE.

  • March 8, a daughter to Mr. & Mrs. Carl FENN of Mount Ayr
  • March 9, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Paul HIATT of Grant City MO
  • March 9, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Edward MINNICK of Kellerton
