Clothing and personal belongings amounting to approximately $1,000 were taken during the Thanksgiving holidays from the
room of William YOUNG, instructor and coach of the Kellerton high school. Articles stolen included five suits, 12 sweaters,
20 shirts, a typewriter, camera, suitcase, tape recorder, pen and $50 worth of phonograph records. Mr. YOUNG resides
in the home of Mrs. Florence WHITSOn about one mile south of Kellerton and the items were taken while he vacationed
with relatives in Warsaw, IL and Mrs. WHITSON was away from her home from Wednesday until Sunday. The theft was
reported to sheriff Warren A. DRAKE, who is investigating.
One of the most brilliant displays of the holiday season in the Mount Ayr business district is the one arranged by the
McCullough Motor Company. The diamond-shaped steel framework of the company's two-way communication system, which towers
80 feet in the air, was decorated Saturday with 175 colorful bulbs by Gary McCULLOUGH and Perry WOOLLUMS. Much favorable comment
for the display has been expressed and the company's owner, Clinton (Whitey) and Mable RICE and Gary McCULLOUGH, are
to be congratulated on their interest manifested in the community, its welfare and beauty.
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell GREENE returned Tuesday to their home in Mount Ayr from Creston, where since Sunday they had been

the GREENES were involved in an accident which happened about 2:15 o'clock three miles north of Mount Ayr on

Perry.

of his right hand in a corn picker accident which happened the night of November 25.
Patients in the Ringgold County Hospital may soon enjoy television programs while convalescing, according to Charles
BUTRICK, administrator. Wiring of 14 rooms -- all except one private room and three for obstetric patients -- will be
completed by the close of this week. The hospital board of trustees recently made arrangements for the installation
and five portable 21-inch screen sets on a lease basis with the Dalberg Corporation of Minneapolis, MN.
