Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Mrs. Lillie J. Rusk has tendered her resignation as treasurer of the town of Mount Ayr, effective April 15. Thelma Caryl was appointed by the town council to succeed Mrs. Rusk.

The Tingley Toppers 4-H Club has elected the following officers: President, Donald Vorhies; secretary-treasurer, Donald Link; and reporter, Russell Boyd.

Mount Ayr High School musicians won top honors in the Class B division of the sub-state music contest held Friday and Saturday in Bedford. Entered in 21 instrumental music events, they rated 17 superior ratings.

Births:

  • Born to Mr. and Mrs. Archie Palmer, April 3, a son, Robert Sidney. Weight, nine pounds.
  • Born to Mr. and Mrs. Perry Kaster, April 3, a son, Richard James. Weight, ten and one-half pounds.
  • Born April 8, to Dr. and Mrs. D.D. Taff, a daughter Virginia Ellen. Weight, six pounds.
