More than a third of eligible Ringgold county voters went to the polls Tuesday in the primary races. In the local primaries:
County Treasurer, Barbara BOWER (R); County Recorder, Jody L. FOX (R), Carol WEEDA (D); County Attorney, Arlen HUGHES (D);
Board of Supervisors, Kenneth QUICK (R), Helen L. HUNT (D).
Jeff and Linda IBBOTSON and neighbors in the north part of Tingley had property damage whena tornado-like wind came
up suddenly about 7 a.m. Sunday morning, June 5. In another storm on June 2, near Redding, Dan QUICK lost a two-year-old
purebred Charolais bull when it was struck by lightning.
Local area students graduating with a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University were: Kenneth Michael BLUNCK, business
administration; Marcy L. MILLER, science; Jody SHIELDS, journalism; Andrea NORRIS, business administration, marketing;
Andrea MEKUS, fisheries and wildlife biology/environmental science; and Michelle SNOOK, journalism.
Sherry ADAMS of Mount Ayr graduated with a bachelor of arts in communication -- English and recreation from Graceland
College in Lamoni
The top 10 students academically in the MAC eighth grade were honored at eighth grade promotion and junior high
awards. They were: Melissa EIGHMY, Laura GALLOWAY, Andrea HURMENCE, Kristen McKERN, Brandie SHIELDS, Katie McGEHEE,
Amber YOUNG, B.J. POPPE, Justin GOURLEY and Jared TRULLINGER. A total of 65 eighth grade students were promoted.
