The oath of office was administered to Mount Ayr's new myaor, Sim C. RICE, by C. E. HOOVER, retiring mayor, and Mayor RICE in turn administered the oath to the councilmen, as follows: Harold DAVIS, Herman FENNEMA, Charles HARVEY, C. D. HOLLOPETER and James MAHAN. Mayor RICE named Clarence WALTER street commissioner; appointed H. A. STONE and Everett WALTER as marshals; and selected A. E. SACKETT and Leonard KINDER to serve as water superintendents.

Lloyd ANGUS was installed as worshipful Master of Faith Lodge No. 179, A.F. & A.M., for 1958, at the regular meeting of the Lodge held Friday night. Mr. ANGUS succeeds Donald DAILEY.

The West End Market, owned and operated by Nick DUROS, was entered Friday night by thieves, who took $70.30 in cash. Entrance was gained through a window at the rear of the store. It was the second break-in at the market in two weeks.

James MOREHOUSE, district salesman for Moorman's feeds, recently purchased the B. A. SALTZMAN residence in east Mount Ayr. Mr. MOREHOUSE recently held a sale at his farm near Bedford and he and his family will move to Mount Ayr early this month.

Marcia FENNEMA, a 1957 graduate of the local high school, was recently awarded a jeweled pin in recognition of her accomplishments as an officer of the Mount Ayr chapter of Tri-Hi-Y, as a district officer and as a representative on the national council of the National Hi-Y Congress. Miss FENNEMA is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman FENNEMA of Mount Ayr and is a freshman at the State University of Iowa, Iowa City.

John R. NOLAN of Benton township was elected chairman of the Ringgold county board of supervisors at the reorganization meeting held Thursday at the courthouse in Mount Ayr. Other members are D. L. SMITHSON and Ernest BASTOW.
