A chain saw sculpture of an eagle and the Liberty Bell has been completed, turning what was a tree stump into a public art work on the south side of the courthouse. Chain saw sculptor Gary KEENAN finished
up the project recently.
Becky BAKER and Emily CAMPBELL represented Mount Ayr Community high school at the central region Academic Decathlon competition held at Drake University in Des Moines Thursday evening. The team originally had
three members but Shea HALL was ill with the flu and could not participate. The team placed third in a field of 10 teams. All the other teams had nine persons in this competition.
Work is continuing on the restoration of the Princess Theatre in Mount Ayr and a new fund-raising effort has been started to sell bricks for the sidewalk outside the theater.
